The sunrise was never ending this morning. I am lucky enough to be able to watch it from bed. This one prompted me to grab the camera and photograph it's rich golden hues.

Day 44/100 - Valentines togetherness ~ Raku pottery
D'Ann and I decided to celebrate February 14 one day early so that we could spend the day together. Our first stop on Saturday was http://www.pyromaniapottery.ca/ in Coombs, BC. There we were greeted by very friendly artists who were willing to share their knowledge. We both chose a small pot to glaze ourselves. D'Ann went with red and copper/blue. I went with copper stripes and crackle white. The whole experience was very informative and fun. We will cherish our personal Raku and remember our Valentines day for a very long time.

Okay maybe not so everyday for this one. The hint is; I found it when taking the photograph for day 40. I brought it home in a plastic bag to photograph later.

This is a 1/2 second exposure of the sun "burning through" the clouds as it rises over the ocean.

This one started out with crazy purples but it was painted on a burnt umber base which brought the glazes back to a moody dark hue of burgundy and reds.
It was a big challenge to photograph due to the gloss varnish.
